It might be time to brush up on your elementary español; an influx of new Spanish-speaking talent is hitting New York City. MMODANY (Madrid Fashion Week New York) will present a video installation on September 13 featuring designs from Ana Locking, Juan Duyos, Carmen March, and Juanjo Oliva. Later, on the 17th, a group of Argentinean designers is staging a joint show at the Bryant Park tents. That same day, Madrid-raised Joaquin Trias will take to the runway with his strong, architectural collection (left). Trias has set himself a rather ambitious goal of becoming the next Cristobal Balenciaga, and he's off to a good start—we hear Carolina Herrera will be sitting front-row.
